Ukiah, CA - Miss Mendocino County Trip!

Saturday, February 5, 2011

This weekend was my first trip with Michele and Dean and I had a blast! We started the morning at 9:00am and left to Mendocino County. On the way, we dropped off Star, Michele and Dean's beautiful dog, off to her daughters house for a sleepover since she couldn't come with us to the pageant. Star is one of the most well behaved dogs I have ever met and I actually missed her when we dropped her off!
This is Star, Michele and Dean's daughter being well behaved on the car ride to her sleepover in Santa Rosa

In the car, Michele showed me this bookmark for the Women's AM Business Group and it shows that I am speaking on February 18th! So excited. I had to take a picture because I thought it was neat that I was a part of their bookmark.
Once we arrived in Ukiah, we checked into the host hotel and then went straight to helping with the preparation for the pageant. Being on the other side and volunteering is so much more relaxing! I had a great time helping out. The first thing we did was set up the interview room with snacks for the judges and wrapping their gifts. Then we were off to town to pick up flowers, cupcakes, cookies and signs. After that, we went to the theater and pasted the signs on all the chairs as well as unloaded all of the goodies we gathered (especially those cupcakes!) from sponsors throughout the city. After this we had a wonderful dinner with the judges and then headed to the Miss Mendocino County program!

Here is my Executive Director, Michele helping wrap the judge's gifts
This is a quick peek at the judges table after it was decorated.
Although Dean drove the whole way to Ukiah, he got to be a passenger while Cheryl drove when we ran errands around town.
During one of our errands, we had to pick up cupcakes and Dean treated us to freshly baked cookies! Thank you Dean!
Here is the Ukiah High School Theater before all the signs on the chairs went up.

A big congratulations to beautiful new Miss Mendocino County 2011 Andrea Gulbranson! It was such a classy program, well produced and very entertaining. During the show Miss California 2007 Melissa Chaty performed as well as Miss Mendocino County 2010 Roseanne and it was a lot of fun to be a part of the audience.

The next morning before heading back home, we had breakfast with Andrea, the new Miss Mendocino County, her parents, the judges and the Miss Mendocino County Committee. Thank you for letting us join you! We had a great time and it was the perfect way to end a perfect trip. :)

Sacramento, CA - Miss Sacramento County Scholarship Program

Saturday, January 29, 2011

The Miss Sacramento County Scholarship Organization and Executive Director, April Smith always do such a beautiful job with the production of their program and I was excited to attend it for the third time. As much as I look forward to coming to this event, each and every time I get lost getting to Inderkum High School! I remember the first time coming to Sacramento, I was with my mother in 2008 and we were lost for an hour and a half. Luckily we made it toward the end of talent and were still able to see the new titleholder (Brittney Henry, Miss Sacramento County 2008) crowned. Last year I think we were lost for about 15 minutes but made it right at the beginning but this year I was lost for about a half hour. I was so happy when I finally found the parking lot and was on my way into the program. Unfortunately, it is hard to sneak in with a crown on! Next time, I will study a map before I head out the door. A big thank you to everyone in the car with me (my friend Brian, my Tia Rosa and cousin Yvette) for not getting mad at me for my poor sense of direction.

At the end of the evening, Tiffany Flossman was crowned Miss Sacramento 2011 and did an incredible job on stage. For her talent, she performed "L is for the way you look at me, O is for the only one you'll see, V is very, very extraordinary, E is..." I know you are singing it now! :) It sounded beautiful and I am so excited to see her back at Miss California this year! I know she will do a fabulous job representing Sacramento County.

I have known Tiffany for the past four or five years and would also love to share a fun memory with you... when I was Miss Napa County 2008, I had the honor of crowning Tiffany as Miss Napa County 2009 and she had to be the funnest person ever to crown considering she and I have a huge height difference! I remember talking to her before crowning and saying if she won she would have to sit on the floor. We kind of practiced just in case before hand and good thing we did! She was a wonderful Miss Napa County and she will be an even more amazing Miss Sacramento County.

Here are some pictures from the night...
Congratulations to Tiffany Flossman, Miss Sacramento County 2011!
